Elma Electronic AG has officially begun construction of a new industrial facility in Timisoara, Romania. The investment, exceeding EUR 15 million, includes a production hall, warehouses, and office spaces, spanning an area of over 12,000 square meters.
Wetzikon / Timisoara, August 8, 2025 – Elma Electronic AG has officially begun construction of a new industrial facility in Timisoara, Romania. The investment, exceeding EUR 15 million, includes a production hall, warehouses, and office spaces, spanning an area of over 12,000 square meters. Once completed, the new factory will become Elma’s largest industrial hub in Europe for the production of electronic components and rotary switches. The products are used in a broad range of applications and industries, such as defense, aerospace, railway, telecommunication and medical.
This investment supports the Group’s expansion strategy in Europe based on the growing global demand for rugged advanced system solutions. The construction will take 12 months and is being carried out in partnership with an excellent local general contractor and an experienced local project management partner.

In Romania, Elma employs 140 people — 130 employees at the existing production site in Timisoara (which will be relocated to the new facility), and 10 at the engineering center in Bucharest. Timisoara offers not only a strategic and logistically efficient location with fast access to transport links, but also a valuable talent pool.
The new Timisoara facility will enable the Elma Group to diversify its portfolio and respond more rapidly to customer needs across Europe through customized and competitive products with optimized delivery times.
