VMEbus is a long-established modular backplane standard for embedded computing that delivers reliable, parallel bus communication between boards. VME64x is an enhanced version of VMEbus that adds 64-bit data paths and expanded addressing, along with improved signaling and additional user I/O.
VMEbus has a reputation for durability, flexibility, and a broad ecosystem of compatible boards, backplanes, and chassis. It has supported many generations of embedded applications — particularly in defense, aerospace, industrial control, and instrumentation — because of proven performance and longevity.
VMEbus and VME64x are well suited to applications that value proven reliability and broad interoperability, such as industrial automation, test and measurement systems, scientific instrumentation, transportation systems, and legacy military embedded platforms.
