Application This is a series of projects beginning with AN/AES-1 Airborne Test Set (ATS). The same design was reused by ALMDS and then more recently COBRA. The system was helicopter mounted and was used for testing elements of the LIDAR Laser Mine Hunter System.
Elma Solution The custom turn-key ELMA 12R2 system provides for mounting a PCI Single Board Computer and several I/O cards in the top half of the enclosure. Operational data was stored on 6 shock isolated SCSI disk were mounted in the lower half. ELMA provided the entire system including Single Board Computer, I/O cards, SCSI disk drives, and custom 12R2.
Why did Elma win? A proven baseline design for Rugged COTS, a long-standing relationship with the customer and ELMA's ability to provide complete integration combined to secure this win.
